Disney Paris Incident: Reports of Panic at Disneyland Paris After Loud Bangs; Officials Respond

Disneyland Paris Panic broke out briefly in and around Disney Village on Monday after loud noises near a security checkpoint prompted a rapid security and police response, before officials said the sounds were linked to fireworks—not gunfire.
Marne-la-Vallée, France — Visitors reported hearing loud bangs that some initially believed sounded like gunshots, triggering confusion and a rush for safety near a checkpoint area. Witnesses described guests running, some sheltering in nearby shops, and others moving quickly toward exits as people tried to understand what was happening.
Authorities later said there was no active attack inside Disney Village or the parks and emphasized that no shots were fired. Officials stated the loud noises were caused by fireworks. They also said there was an attempted security breach at one of the checkpoints, which added to the alarm during the initial moments.
Security personnel detained one individual during the response, officials said. Emergency exits reportedly opened automatically in some locations as crowds moved away, and some businesses temporarily closed their doors until the situation was clarified.
Law enforcement conducted precautionary sweeps of Disney Village and surrounding areas before issuing an all-clear. Disneyland Paris later reassured guests that the situation was under control and that the site was safe. No serious injuries were reported, and normal operations resumed after the scene was assessed.
