At Least Two Killed, Multiple Trapped After Explosion at Silver Lake Nursing Home in Bristol

Emergency officials confirmed that crews are responding to a major incident at the Silver Lake Nursing Home in Bristol, Pennsylvania, following a reported gas explosion that led to a partial collapse of the building.

The incident occurred at approximately 905 Tower Road, where emergency responders requested a second alarm and declared a Level 2 Mass Casualty Incident as conditions at the scene rapidly escalated.

First-arriving units reported extensive structural damage to the nursing home, prompting an immediate and large-scale search-and-rescue operation to locate residents and staff inside the facility.

Authorities at the scene indicated that approximately 15 patients were initially accounted for outside the building, while several others remained unaccounted for as rescue efforts continued.

Emergency crews reported that multiple individuals were trapped beneath debris on the second floor of the building, with additional victims believed to be trapped in the basement area.

Early emergency communications indicated that at least two fatalities were reported in the basement, though officials emphasized that details remain preliminary as rescue operations are ongoing.

As the situation developed, a third alarm was transmitted, bringing in significant mutual aid resources, including fire, rescue, and emergency medical units from outside the county. A medical helicopter was also placed on standby in anticipation of transporting critically injured patients.

Emergency personnel continued to conduct methodical searches throughout the damaged structure while carefully monitoring stability concerns and coordinating triage and medical care for those rescued.

Officials have not yet confirmed the total number of injuries or victims involved in the incident.

Road closures remain in effect in the surrounding area as emergency operations continue. Authorities have urged the public to avoid the area to allow first responders full access to the scene.

The incident remains active and rapidly evolving.

Officials said additional information will be released as details are confirmed and rescue efforts progress.
