Authorities have identified the two semi-truck drivers who died in a head-on collision in Logan County on Christmas Eve. The crash occurred at approximately 8:30 a.m. on Highway 30, about three miles south of Streeter, according to officials.

The drivers were identified as Abdullahi Mohamud of Moorhead, Minnesota, who was operating a 2026 International semi-truck, and Scott Schilling of Wishek, who was driving a 2025 Kenworth. Authorities confirmed that both drivers died as a result of the collision.

A passenger who was traveling with Mohamud sustained serious injuries in the crash. Emergency responders arranged for the individual to be airlifted to Sanford Hospital in Bismarck, where the passenger received medical treatment. Officials have not released additional information regarding the passenger’s current condition.

Following the crash, Highway 30 was closed for approximately six hours while investigators worked at the scene. A detour was established during that time to allow for the investigation and cleanup. The North Dakota Highway Patrol reported that road and weather conditions were dry when the collision occurred and stated that the investigation into the cause of the crash remains ongoing.

The loss of both drivers has deeply affected the local community and those connected to the trucking industry. Officials noted that the incident serves as a reminder of the risks drivers face on roadways, even under clear and dry conditions. Further details are expected to be released as the investigation continues.
