Woman Injured in Colleton County Hunting Accident Saturday Morning

Emergency crews responded to a hunting-related incident in Colleton County on Saturday morning after receiving a report that a woman had been injured. The call came in around 7:49 a.m., alerting Colleton County Fire-Rescue to an adult female who had been hurt near the Town of Smoaks, west of I-95, and was being transported to Fire-Rescue Station #7 for assistance.
First responders arrived shortly after the woman reached the station and immediately began providing medical care. Due to the nature of her injuries, crews requested a medical helicopter for transport. Officials say the helicopter, dispatched from Orangeburg, landed in a nearby field where firefighter-paramedics transferred the patient to the flight crew.
She was then flown to the trauma center at HCA Trident Hospital in North Charleston for further evaluation and treatment. Fire-Rescue officials have not released additional details as the investigation into the accident continues.
