NYC: Authorities Investigate Incident Involving NFL Player Kris Boyd

NEW YORK — New York Jets special teams player Kris Boyd is receiving treatment at Manhattan’s Bellevue Hospital after an incident early Sunday morning in midtown. Police confirmed that he is in critical but stable condition, and an active investigation is underway.
According to the New York Police Department, the incident occurred shortly after 2 a.m. near a restaurant on West 38th Street. Emergency responders transported Boyd, 29, to Bellevue Hospital following the event. NYPD officials stated that no arrests have been made and that additional details will be released as the investigation progresses.
Sources indicated that the situation began as a dispute outside the restaurant, with individuals involved quickly leaving the area in multiple vehicles. Law enforcement is reviewing available information, including witness statements and nearby surveillance footage, to identify those involved and determine the sequence of events.
Boyd is currently in his first season with the New York Jets, having signed a one-year contract in free agency. Although he has not played this season due to a preseason shoulder injury, he remains a member of the Jets’ roster. Before joining the Jets, Boyd played four seasons with the Minnesota Vikings and also spent time with the Arizona Cardinals and Houston Texans after being selected in the seventh round of the 2019 NFL Draft.
Team officials and fellow players have expressed concern and support for Boyd as he continues to receive medical care. Updates regarding his condition and the ongoing investigation will be provided as confirmed information becomes available.
