Chicago: Authorities Investigate Multiple Shooting Incidents Across City Neighborhoods

Chicago authorities are reviewing a series of shooting incidents that took place across Roseland, Wicker Park, and Austin on Saturday evening, resulting in the deaths of three individuals and injuries to several others. Those who passed away were identified as 28-year-old Marcus Lewis of Roseland, 35-year-old Jasmine Torres of Wicker Park, and 41-year-old Samuel Green of Austin. The incidents unfolded over roughly three hours, prompting concern within the affected neighborhoods.
Police reported that the first incident occurred around 8:15 p.m. in Roseland near the intersection of 111th Street and Michigan Avenue. Emergency responders arrived quickly and provided medical support, but Marcus Lewis later passed away. Investigators are reviewing surveillance footage and speaking with witnesses to gather additional details.
A little over an hour later, authorities responded to another incident in Wicker Park involving Jasmine Torres. She was near North Milwaukee Avenue when shots were fired in the area. Torres was transported to a nearby hospital but did not survive. Several bystanders received treatment for non-life-threatening injuries. Investigators believe the suspect may have moved between neighborhoods during the evening.
The final incident occurred in Austin around 10:30 p.m., resulting in the death of Samuel Green. Green was returning home from a local store when the incident occurred. Additional injuries were reported, including two teenagers and an adult male. Police confirmed that one suspect is currently in custody while the investigation into possible additional involvement continues.
During a press briefing on Sunday morning, the Chicago Police Department offered condolences to the affected families and urged community members to share any information that may assist the investigation. Officials emphasized their commitment to public safety and accountability.
Residents across the three neighborhoods described an unsettling night, noting the presence of emergency vehicles and police activity at multiple locations. Community leaders are calling for increased support for victims and ongoing efforts to promote safety citywide.
Detectives continue to examine forensic evidence, video footage, and witness statements to determine whether the incidents were connected or occurred independently. Authorities are also coordinating with hospitals to document all injuries and ensure appropriate assistance for those affected.
As Chicago confronts another series of violent incidents, officials highlight the importance of cooperation between residents and law enforcement. Local support organizations are assisting the families of Marcus Lewis, Jasmine Torres, and Samuel Green, as community members reflect on the impact of these events.
