Memphis Police responded shortly before 10:30 p.m. after receiving multiple calls about a disturbance in the area.
According to officials, officers arrived to find several individuals injured during the incident, including Zayy Stacks, who was pronounced deceased at the scene. Two additional individuals were transported to a nearby hospital in critical condition, and authorities have not yet released their names.
Early findings suggest the situation began as a verbal dispute inside the store and continued outside, where tensions escalated quickly. Witnesses reported an argument involving multiple people, after which the situation intensified. Detectives are now working to understand the sequence of events and to determine the individuals involved.
Investigators processed the area for several hours, collecting evidence, reviewing surveillance footage, and attempting to contact people who may have witnessed the incident. Police believe more than one person may have been involved and emphasized that the event does not appear to have been random.
No arrests have been announced at this time, but Memphis Police say they are developing leads and urge anyone with information to come forward to assist the investigation.
