Birmingham I-65 Crash: 28-Year-Old Chase Murray Fatally Struck After Exiting Vehicle

BIRMINGHAM ALABAMA, authorities have released new details regarding a fatal incident on Interstate 65 that claimed the life of a 28-year-old man early Tuesday morning.
The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as Chase Alan Murray of Hayden.
According to Chief Deputy Coroner Bill Yates, the incident began around 5:27 a.m. when Murray was involved in a two-vehicle crash near the 17th Street North exit.
Following the initial collision, both vehicles reportedly pulled over onto opposite shoulders of the interstate.
Investigators said that after exiting his vehicle, Murray attempted to cross the roadway.
While in the roadway, he was struck by an oncoming vehicle.
The impact proved fatal, and Murray was pronounced dead at the scene at approximately 6:03 a.m.
Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding both the initial crash and the subsequent fatal collision.
