Eisenhower I-290 Shooting Leaves One Dead, Major Traffic Disruptions in Chicago Western Suburbs

OAK PARK ILLINOIS, One person has died following a shooting on the Eisenhower Expressway on Monday afternoon, prompting a major police investigation and a temporary traffic shutdown in the western suburbs of Chicago.
According to the Illinois State Police, troopers responded shortly after 1:45 p.m. to reports of a shooting in the eastbound lanes of Interstate 290 near Austin Avenue in Oak Park. Emergency responders arrived at the scene and began securing the area while investigators searched for evidence connected to the incident.
Authorities confirmed that one person died as a result of the shooting. Investigators were seen canvassing the expressway and the surrounding area as they worked to piece together what led up to the violence. Officials have not yet released the identity of the victim or information about possible suspects.
The investigation forced a temporary closure of part of the Eisenhower Expressway, causing significant traffic disruptions during the afternoon commute. Eastbound traffic was diverted off the expressway at Harlem Avenue and allowed back onto the highway at Austin Avenue while troopers processed the scene. All lanes have since reopened.
