According to a probable cause affidavit obtained by Law&Crime, the incident occurred on Nov. 16, 2025, at the Walmart store located in the 5800 block of Northwest 177th Street in Hialeah.

Deputies said Santana was shopping in the jewelry department around 11 a.m. while using a motorized scooter when he approached an employee working behind the counter and asked to view several pieces of jewelry. The employee explained that store policy allows customers to view only one jewelry item at a time.

Investigators said Santana became upset, believing the employee was not providing good service, and began speaking aggressively to her while calling her derogatory names.

The employee told deputies that she again explained the store’s policy limiting customers to viewing one item at a time. Santana allegedly responded by telling her that she had a bad attitude and needed to fix it. When asked what item he wanted to see, Santana reportedly insisted once more on viewing multiple pieces simultaneously.

According to the affidavit, after the employee reiterated the policy for a second time, Santana opened his shirt to reveal a firearm tucked into his waistband and asked her, “Are you scared now?”

The employee said she feared for her safety, stepped back, and contacted store security to report the incident. The matter was then forwarded to the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office, and deputies later went to Santana’s home to speak with him.

During a post-Miranda interview, Santana denied being the individual seen in Walmart’s security footage, despite deputies stating that surveillance video showed him in the area at the time of the incident described by the employee.

Santana is currently being held at the Metro West Detention Center on a $5,000 bond, jail records show. It was not immediately clear when he is scheduled to return to court.
