Richens, 35, was heard saying “I’m going to miss GTA” while being taken into custody for the killing of Rachael Vaughan, 40, who was found dead in Oxfordshire, England. Authorities said Vaughan suffered multiple injuries, including blunt force trauma and knife wounds involving a serrated blade, according to reports from the Oxford Mail and a press release issued by Thames Valley Police.

Police confirmed that Richens was sentenced last week to life in prison, with a minimum term of 16 years and one month, after pleading guilty to murder. Following the sentencing, authorities released body camera footage on social media showing Richens’ remarks to officers during his arrest in May 2025.

During the footage, Richens can be heard exclaiming, “I’m going to get life,” after repeatedly expressing distress about missing the game’s release. When an officer asked which game he was referring to, Richens replied, “Six,” prompting the officer to respond that he would have plenty of time.

Investigators said Richens had contacted police himself on the day of the incident and reported Vaughan’s death. In the body camera footage, he told officers, “I accidentally killed her. At least I admitted to it.”

Later in the video, Richens said he could not get the incident out of his head and acknowledged that he could have attempted to flee. Prosecutors told the court that Richens and Vaughan had been in an unstable relationship prior to her death.

According to court proceedings referenced by the Oxford Mail, Richens was described as jealous and prone to anger. Prosecutors said his behavior had led Vaughan to stay with a male friend shortly before the incident. A voicemail allegedly left by Richens on the friend’s phone was played in court, in which he warned the individual to “watch your back” if anything happened to Vaughan.

Prosecutor Neil Moore told the court that the voicemail marked the beginning of Richens’ escalating anger. The court also heard a recording of Richens’ phone call to police, during which he said the couple had argued and that he believed he had blacked out. In the same call, he repeatedly stated that he expected to spend the rest of his life in prison.

In a statement following the sentencing, the senior investigating officer said Richens’ actions showed a lack of care for the victim. The officer stated that Richens left Vaughan alone in her home, made no effort to provide assistance, and only contacted authorities when he had no other options.

The official added that Richens will now face the consequences of his actions as determined by the court.
