Police Investigate Attempted Murder After Ardoyne Shooting in North Belfast

NORTH BELFAST, police are investigating a shooting that took place Tuesday evening in the Ardoyne area, according to the Police Service of Northern Ireland.
The incident occurred in an alleyway between Northwick Drive and Strathroy Park, off the Berwick Road area. Reports indicate that shots were fired at a man, who was later taken to hospital for treatment. His condition has not been formally released.
PSNI officers responded to the scene and established cordons, which remain in place as forensic examinations and investigative work continue. Police confirmed the incident is being treated as a serious crime and have launched an appeal for witnesses.
Sinn Féin MLA Gerry Kelly, who represents the area, condemned the shooting and confirmed that the victim was hospitalized following the incident.
Residents in the area have expressed concern, as police continue to maintain a visible presence while inquiries remain ongoing.
The PSNI is urging anyone who witnessed the shooting or observed suspicious activity in the area at the time to contact police as the investigation continues.
