14-Year-Old Taken Into Custody After Reported Threat at Tolman, Police Say

Tolman High School in Pawtucket was temporarily placed on lockdown Monday after a reported threat prompted a police response, according to authorities.
The Pawtucket Police Department said officers were dispatched to the school around 11:30 a.m. after receiving a tip from the FBI regarding an alleged bomb threat. As a precaution, the school was secured while law enforcement assessed the situation.
Police confirmed that a 14-year-old student was taken into custody in connection with the reported threat. At this time, it has not been determined whether the student will face criminal charges.
Patrol officers, detectives, and K-9 units conducted a thorough sweep of the building to ensure there was no danger. After the search was completed and authorities determined there was no ongoing threat, the lockdown was lifted.
The incident remains under investigation as officials work to gather additional information and determine the appropriate next steps.
Kristen Setera, a spokesperson for FBI Boston, released a statement emphasizing the agency’s continued cooperation with local law enforcement. She said the FBI “remains vigilant and continues to work closely with our law enforcement partners to mitigate potential threats to the public.”
The statement also encouraged the public to report any potential threats immediately, noting the importance of vigilance in maintaining public safety.
In addition to any possible legal consequences, officials noted that the student involved could also face disciplinary action through the school, including suspension or expulsion, depending on the outcome of the investigation.
