Family Records Reveal Timeline in Case of Florida Teen Found Deceased on Cruise Ship

Newly released information is providing additional insight into the federal investigation surrounding the death of 18-year-old Florida resident Anna Kepner aboard the Carnival Horizon cruise ship.
According to investigative sources and recently filed court documents, Anna had been sharing a cabin with her 14-year-old brother and 16-year-old stepbrother, Timothy Hudson, who has been identified as a suspect in the case. Authorities are reviewing evidence that may result in criminal charges.
On November 6, Anna reportedly left dinner early after telling family members she was not feeling well and returned to the cabin on her own. Her brothers re-entered the room later that evening. One of the siblings briefly stepped back out to take photos of the ship, and upon returning, assumed Anna had gone elsewhere on the vessel to be with their parents. Surveillance footage later confirmed that Anna had returned to the cabin that night and did not exit again.
By the next morning, relatives became concerned when they realized she had not been seen. Anna’s father, Christopher Kepner, began searching the ship with crew assistance. During that time, a staff member located Anna’s body inside the cabin, prompting an immediate law-enforcement response.
Court filings and statements from family members have identified Hudson as the individual under investigation. He is currently staying with maternal relatives as the case proceeds. Officials have not released an official cause or manner of death, pending findings from the Miami-Dade Medical Examiner’s Office.
The situation has also led to a related court development involving Anna’s stepmother, who requested a delay in a scheduled custody hearing. Documents indicate the request was made because one of her minor children may face charges connected to the case.
Federal authorities, including the FBI, are continuing to examine the circumstances surrounding Anna’s death, as the incident occurred while the ship was in international waters. Further updates will be released as the investigation progresses.
