Armed Suspect Dies After Standoff Following Signal Mountain Incident

Authorities in Tennessee say a man sought in connection with a fatal shooting in Signal Mountain died after a standoff with law enforcement on November 17, 2025. Officials reported that 41-year-old Johnny Michael Queen was located following an extensive search that began earlier in the evening.
The investigation began after 47-year-old Michael Huckabee was found deceased inside a residence on Dandy Road. According to officials, an argument had occurred prior to the incident, prompting Queen to flee into a heavily wooded area nearby. Multiple agencies, including Sequatchie County deputies, Marion County authorities, and the Tennessee Highway Patrol, assisted in the search, using tracking dogs and aerial support to narrow the area where Queen was last seen.
Officers eventually located Queen near Big Fork Road in Marion County. Investigators say deputies issued several verbal commands asking him to drop his weapon and surrender. Witnesses reported that officers maintained distance while attempting to resolve the situation safely.
Officials stated that Queen raised a firearm during the encounter, prompting deputies to respond. Medical assistance was provided immediately, but Queen later died from his injuries.
The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation has taken over the case and is reviewing body camera footage, gathering evidence, and interviewing the officers involved. The incident caps a difficult series of events that left two individuals deceased and the local community shaken by the sudden violence in an otherwise quiet area.
