PAULSBORO, N.J. — Authorities are investigating a deadly domestic incident that occurred Saturday at a home on Elizabeth Avenue, an event that has left the Paulsboro community shaken and grieving.
According to the Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office, law enforcement officers were dispatched to the residence after receiving reports of gunfire. Upon arrival, officers discovered two people deceased inside the home with gunshot injuries. Investigators believe the incident involved members of the same household.
Officials stated that a man was found deceased at the scene. A juvenile female, identified by neighbors as a ninth-grade student, was also pronounced dead at the residence.
An adult female victim survived the incident after sustaining a gunshot wound to the torso and was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. Authorities have not released details about her current condition.
The area surrounding Cook Street and Elizabeth Avenue was temporarily closed as investigators processed the scene. Multiple law enforcement agencies responded, and the investigation remains active. At this time, officials have not released the names of those involved.
As news of the tragedy spread, neighbors and community members shared emotional tributes, remembering the family as warm, friendly, and deeply connected to the neighborhood.
“They were a lovely family who always smiled at everyone,” one neighbor said. “You would see them outside, always friendly. This is just heartbreaking.”
Another resident described the teenage girl as polite and respectful. “She was just a kid with her whole life ahead of her,” the neighbor said. “This is devastating for everyone.”
Community members also expressed concern and prayers for the surviving woman, hoping for her recovery as the neighborhood struggles to process the loss.
