Emergency Response Near Rayleigh Weir After Fatal Incident; A127 Reopens Later

Traffic update: A man has died following an incident at Rayleigh Weir in Essex, prompting a police investigation and the closure of the A127 on Tuesday, according to Essex Police.
Police said they were called after receiving a welfare-related report in the area. Emergency services attended, and the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
As part of standard procedures, officers closed the A127 at Rayleigh Weir while enquiries were carried out. The closure led to major delays, with long queues reported on surrounding routes and congestion affecting nearby roads. Some bus services were also impacted.
Essex Police said motorists were advised to avoid the area where possible and to use alternative routes. Officers also appealed for witnesses and for anyone with relevant CCTV, dash-cam, or other footage to come forward.
