I-71 Delaware County Crash: Victims Killed in Nine-Vehicle Collision Identified

DELAWARE COUNTY OHIO, a respected veterinarian and her family were among those killed in a devastating multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 71 on April 11, according to officials and her employer.
Muirfield Animal Hospital confirmed in a public statement that Dr. Lynnea Soposki, 36, lost her life in the collision.
A staff member also verified that her husband, 37-year-old Luke Soposki, and their 1-year-old son, Logan, died as a result of the crash. The family lived in Ashley, Ohio.
According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the crash occurred at approximately 6:27 p.m. in the northbound lanes of Interstate 71 near the U.S. 36 and State Route 37 interchange.
Investigators said a 2006 Freightliner tractor-trailer, driven by 50-year-old Modou F. Ngom of Columbus, failed to slow down as it approached stopped traffic in a construction zone.
The semi-truck then collided with multiple vehicles, triggering a chain-reaction crash involving a total of nine vehicles.
Authorities reported that the impact caused extensive damage, with at least one vehicle catching fire following the collision.
Three victims—identified as Dr. Soposki, her husband, and their infant son—were pronounced dead at the scene.
Three additional individuals sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries and were transported to nearby hospitals for treatment.
Ngom has been charged with three counts of aggravated vehicular homicide.
During a court appearance, a judge set his bond at $500,000, and prosecutors indicated that additional charges may be filed in connection with those injured in the crash. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for April 21.
Dr. Soposki was a graduate of Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine, where she earned her degree in 2016.
She was known for her dedication to animal care, with professional interests including feline medicine, geriatric treatment, neurology, behavior, and rehabilitative therapy.
Colleagues described her as compassionate and committed to both her patients and their owners.
The crash caused major traffic disruptions, shutting down both directions of Interstate 71 for several hours as emergency crews responded and investigators processed the scene.
The incident remains under active investigation.
