DeKalb County Shooting: 40-Year-Old Lauren Bullis Fatally Shot on Battle Forest Drive

DEKALB COUNTY GEORGIA, authorities have taken a 26-year-old Atlanta man into custody in connection with a series of violent incidents early Monday morning, including two homicides and a separate shooting, according to investigators.
The suspect, identified as Olaolukitan Adon Abel, was arrested in Troup County after law enforcement used Flock camera technology to track a rental vehicle believed to be linked to the incidents. He remains in custody and is being questioned.
The investigation began shortly after 12:50 a.m., when officers responded to a shooting outside a Checkers restaurant on Wesley Chapel Road in Decatur. An adult female victim was found with gunshot wounds and was transported to a nearby hospital, where she later died.
Authorities later identified the woman killed on Battle Forest Drive as 40-year-old Lauren Bullis.
Investigators say Bullis had been walking her dog, as part of her regular routine, when an unknown individual approached and opened fire, striking her multiple times. The suspect then allegedly attempted to assault her while she was injured.
A nearby resident who witnessed the incident alerted others and called for emergency assistance, leading to a rapid police response.
Less than an hour later, at approximately 1:59 a.m., officers in Brookhaven responded to another shooting outside a Kroger store on Peachtree Road, where one person was injured.
Authorities stated there is no known connection between that victim and the suspect, suggesting the incident may have been random.
The situation escalated again around 6:50 a.m. in Decatur, when officers responded to reports of another person shot on Battle Forest Drive. Upon arrival, they found a woman suffering from multiple gunshot and stab wounds, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
Preliminary findings indicate the victim was attacked while walking in her neighborhood, and investigators believe she did not know the suspect.
Officials said the nature of the incidents has raised concern among residents, as the area is typically considered quiet.
Detectives with the DeKalb County Police Department have linked the two homicides and the Brookhaven shooting as part of a single, ongoing investigation.
Multiple law enforcement agencies are assisting as investigators work to determine a motive and reconstruct the sequence of events.
Authorities emphasized that the investigation remains active, and additional details may be released as the case develops.
