Suspect Arrested and Charged in Deadly Roanoke Store Shooting

ROANOKE VIRGINIA, A Salem man has been charged in connection with a fatal shooting outside a convenience store in Roanoke.
Authorities announced that 26-year-old Sincere Elijah Hardy of Salem has been arrested and charged with second-degree murder in the death of 56-year-old Kimberly Sue Lee.
According to a release from the Roanoke Police Department, officers responded at approximately 9:50 a.m. on March 1, 2026, to reports of a shooting in the 1600 block of Burrell Street NW. When officers arrived, they located a woman suffering from gunshot wounds. She was later pronounced deceased at the scene.
Police identified the victim as Kimberly Sue Lee.
Chief Scott Booth stated that coordinated investigative efforts and assistance from community members contributed to the suspect’s arrest. He also expressed condolences to Lee’s family, friends, and those who knew her.
Authorities have not released a motive in the case. It is also not immediately clear whether the suspect and victim were known to each other prior to the incident.
Police indicated that there will continue to be a noticeable law enforcement presence in the area as the investigation remains active.
