Police Investigate After Three Bodies Discovered in Wayne County, Public Asked to Take Precautions

WAYNE COUNTY UTAH, Authorities have launched a homicide investigation after three women were found dead in separate locations Wednesday, prompting a major law enforcement response and safety alerts for residents in the area.
The Utah Department of Public Safety said the Utah State Bureau of Investigation and the DPS Crime Lab are assisting the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office as investigators process multiple crime scenes in and around the town of Torrey.
Officials said the investigation began Wednesday afternoon after dispatchers received a report of two deceased women discovered along a hiking trail. As authorities searched the surrounding area, a third woman was later found dead inside a residence elsewhere in Wayne County.
Authorities confirmed that all three deaths are being investigated as homicides.
The victims have not yet been identified publicly while next-of-kin notifications continue. Investigators said the victims include a woman in her 30s, a woman in her 60s, and a woman in her 80s.
Officials are asking for the public’s help locating a 2022 white Subaru Outback with Utah license plate U560YF, which investigators believe may be connected to the case. Authorities are warning the public not to approach the vehicle if it is seen and to report its location immediately to law enforcement.
Because the suspect has not yet been located, residents in Torrey and surrounding communities are being urged to take extra precautions, including locking doors, keeping outdoor lights on, avoiding being alone when possible, and reporting suspicious activity.
Law enforcement agencies across several neighboring counties have shared the alert as the investigation continues. Authorities said it remains unclear whether other reported incidents in the region are connected.
In response to the situation, the Wayne County School District announced that schools will be closed Thursday and Friday as a precaution. Officials said counselors will be available for students when classes resume.
Authorities say the investigation remains active, and additional details will be released as they become available.
