Missouri Incident: Cuba Man Faces Charges for Shotgun Fire and Vehicle Assault Attempt

CUBA MISSOURI, A man from Cuba, Missouri is facing multiple domestic assault charges after a violent incident involving a firearm and a vehicle during a domestic dispute.
According to authorities, the incident occurred on March 24 when Crawford County deputies were called to Old Mill Road following reports of a disturbance and a vehicle crashing into a mobile home.
When deputies arrived, they spoke with the victim, who had been driving the vehicle involved in the crash. The victim was taken to the hospital for treatment of injuries.
Court documents state that the victim had been involved in an altercation with 39-year-old Jacob Dane Hinson. The victim alleged that Hinson fired a shotgun at them while they were inside the vehicle.
At the scene, deputies observed a Chrysler Sebring with its hood lodged underneath a mobile home, causing structural damage and shifting the home off its foundation. Investigators also found a bullet hole beneath the rear passenger-side door and recovered a 12-gauge shotgun casing near the property.
Hinson told deputies that the victim had stayed overnight and became upset in the morning over a missed appointment. He claimed the victim struck him, although officers reported seeing no visible injuries on him.
Hinson further stated that he pulled the victim out of the home, after which the victim entered their vehicle and allegedly attempted to drive toward him and the residence.
When questioned, Hinson admitted to firing at the vehicle.
Two witnesses at the scene reported that after the vehicle struck the mobile home, Hinson pulled the victim from the car and a physical confrontation followed.
In a second statement, Hinson claimed the victim was damaging property and had threatened to drive the vehicle into the home. He said he retrieved a shotgun and fired what he described as a warning shot. He also stated that the firearm malfunctioned and that he attempted to shoot at the vehicle’s tire.
Later, the victim was released from the hospital and provided additional details to deputies. The victim stated that after a verbal dispute, Hinson demanded they leave, but they refused because they wanted to retrieve their phone.
According to the report, Hinson allegedly dragged the victim out of the house by their hair. The victim then entered their vehicle and saw Hinson holding a firearm.
The victim reported that after a shot was fired, they attempted to drive away out of fear but accidentally struck the mobile home.
The victim also alleged that after the firearm jammed, Hinson struck them on the head with the gun through the driver’s side window.
After exiting the vehicle, the victim ran toward the porch to retrieve their phone. Authorities state that Hinson then got into his own vehicle and intentionally drove into the porch in an attempt to hit the victim.
Following that, Hinson allegedly exited the vehicle and struck the victim multiple times until witnesses intervened.
Hinson was taken into custody and booked into the Crawford County Jail, where he is currently being held without bond.
