Lexington Shooting Leaves Woman and Child Dead, Suspect Apprehended by Police K-9

LEXINGTON MINNESOTA, Authorities are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred in the early morning hours of March 18, 2026, in the city of Lexington.

At approximately 12:52 a.m., multiple law enforcement agencies—including the Centennial Lakes Police Department, Coon Rapids Police Department, Blaine Police Department, Lino Lakes Police Department, Fridley Police Department, Anoka County Sheriff’s Office, and Ramsey County Sheriff’s Office—along with Allina EMS, responded to a residence near the 9300 block of Ryan Place following reports of a shooting.

Upon arrival, officers discovered an adult female deceased inside the residence, along with a young juvenile male suffering from critical injuries.

The juvenile was transported to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

Authorities have not yet released the identities of the victims, pending formal identification and notification of next of kin.

Following the initial response, law enforcement deployed a K-9 unit to search the surrounding area.

An adult male suspect was later located and apprehended with the assistance of the K-9 unit.

The suspect was taken into custody and transported to a nearby hospital for medical evaluation and treatment.

Preliminary information indicates the incident does not appear to be random, and officials have stated there is no ongoing threat to the public.

The case remains under active investigation by the Centennial Lakes Police Department, the Midwest Medical Examiner’s Office, and the Anoka County Sheriff’s Office.
