Sacred Heart School Teacher Arrested After Inappropriate Relationship Allegations

NEW ORLEANS, Teddi Page, a teacher at the Academy of the Sacred Heart, has been charged with prohibited sexual conduct between an educator and a female student just days after starting a new job at the Catholic all-girls school.
A New Orleans teacher at a Catholic school has been arrested following accusations of having an inappropriate relationship with a female student.
Teddi Page, 29, an educator at the Academy of the Sacred Heart, turned herself in to authorities on Thursday following allegations that she had been involved in an improper relationship with the student for several months.
Upon her arrest, Teddi Page was booked on a misdemeanor charge of “prohibited sexual conduct between educator and student,” FOX8 reported.
According to the school’s website, Sacred Heart is a Catholic, independent, private, all-girls school serving students from age 1 through grade 12 in New Orleans.
The school’s homepage states, “Sacred Heart is a way of life. Are you ready?”
The teacher’s arrest follows the student’s mother reporting the alleged relationship to the principal of the Academy of the Sacred Heart, where Page was employed as a biology teacher. Page reportedly began working at the private all-girls school in August 2025, WDSU reported.
The student’s mother allegedly found text messages, images, and videos showing her 18-year-old daughter and Page involved in an inappropriate relationship. According to an arrest warrant cited by WWL-TV, the discovery was made after the mother accessed an old phone that was still logged into her daughter’s social media accounts.
The warrant states that Page was called into the office, terminated from her position, and escorted off school grounds after the student’s mother left the school. Detectives later spoke with the student, who said her first interaction with the teacher occurred in August, according to the warrant.
Academy of the Sacred Heart Head of School Gretchen Zibilich Kane said in a statement Friday that Page’s background check and references revealed no issues. She added that faculty, staff, and students are trained to observe appropriate boundaries and report safety concerns to school administrators.
“We are supporting the student and her family who have come forward and are providing resources and counseling for our students who may be upset about these developments,” Kane said.
During a magistrate court hearing on Friday, attorneys and the judge discussed allegations that included a kiss between Page and the student. However, court documents state the alleged relationship went further.
Court records allege the two engaged in sexual encounters multiple times, based on statements provided by the student. The documents state that the alleged encounters occurred at several locations, including Page’s home and inside a vehicle parked behind a restaurant.
Page appeared in court Friday, where a judge set her bond at $15,000.
Prosecutors requested a restraining order against Page, but the magistrate judge denied the request, noting that the student is 18 years old and the relationship was described as consensual.
Despite this, Loyola University law professor Dane Ciolino said Louisiana law still prohibits such relationships because of the power imbalance between educators and students.
“It is a misdemeanor given that this is a consensual relationship,” Ciolino told WWL-TV. “But because of the power imbalance, the Legislature decided that even though this student happens to be a major, the student is still subject to protection.”
