Midland Park Mall Shooting Prompts Lockdown in Midland, Texas

MIDLAND TEXAS, Law enforcement officials are investigating a reported shooting Friday, Feb. 27, at Midland Park Mall.
Authorities responded to the mall at 4511 N. Midkiff Road after receiving reports of gunfire. According to preliminary information, the suspected shooter ran into the mall following the incident, prompting an immediate lockdown.
Officers secured the property and began searching the facility. Shoppers and employees were instructed to shelter in place as a precaution while law enforcement worked to locate the suspect and assess the situation.
Officials have not released information regarding possible injuries and have not confirmed whether a suspect has been taken into custody.
Members of the public are being urged to avoid the area to allow emergency responders to operate safely.
