Five Killed in Shooting at Sarasota Residence, Police Say

SARASOTA FLORIDA, authorities are investigating a deadly shooting that occurred Tuesday afternoon at a residence in the Amberlea subdivision of eastern Sarasota County, leaving multiple people dead in what officials describe as an isolated incident.
According to preliminary information, the victims are believed to be members of a family connected to a Sarasota-area medical practice known as Osprey Polyclinic. Sources identified Florita Stolyar and Tony Ioffe among those involved, though officials have not formally released the victims’ identities pending notification of next of kin.
Sarasota County Community Affairs Manager Matthew Binkley confirmed that deputies located multiple victims inside the home and that no survivors were found.
Authorities have not provided details about a suspect or announced any arrests. However, investigators said they are not searching for additional suspects and believe all individuals connected to the incident have been accounted for.
The Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office responded to the residence at 4822 Fall Crest Circle, near Proctor Road and McIntosh Road, after a neighboring resident called 911 at approximately 12:24 p.m. Deputies arrived within minutes and secured the scene.
A sheriff’s office spokesperson stated during a press briefing that multiple victims were found inside the home and that the crime scene forensics team was conducting preliminary investigative work.
Law enforcement mounted a large response, deploying numerous deputies and patrol vehicles. Access to the gated community was restricted, and Proctor Road was temporarily closed between McIntosh Road and Honore Avenue due to the investigation.
Specialized units assisting at the scene include Crime Scene Investigations, Forensics, Criminal Investigations, Victim Advocates, the Patrol Bureau, and an Unmanned Aircraft System conducting aerial support.
Authorities confirmed that at least one weapon was recovered at the residence but have not disclosed additional details regarding how many weapons may have been involved.
Investigators reported no immediate signs of forced entry into the home. While officials have not confirmed the relationships between those involved, they have not ruled out that the individuals knew each other.
The property had reportedly been the subject of two prior law enforcement calls, though officials said it was not considered suspicious and had not required ongoing police attention.
Detectives are interviewing witnesses and neighbors and reviewing available surveillance footage, including residential security and doorbell camera recordings, to establish a timeline and determine what led to the shooting.
Residents described the normally quiet gated neighborhood as safe and expressed shock over the incident. A staging area has been established at Bee Ridge Presbyterian Church, where officials plan to provide updates.
Nearby schools were notified as a precaution and sent alerts to parents.
The investigation remains active, and authorities said additional information will be released once victim identifications are confirmed and more facts are established.
