Valley High School, which is located nearby, informed parents of its lockdown status in a message, stating that the school was placed on lockdown due to an incident at Diamond Elementary. The message noted that all students and staff were safe and that students could not be released until the lockdown was lifted.

Officials have not shared details regarding the identity of the deceased or the circumstances surrounding the death. Authorities stated that the lockdowns were implemented out of an abundance of caution as the investigation continued.

Parents and community members were asked to avoid the area to allow emergency responders to carry out their work without interference. At this time, no injuries involving students or staff have been reported.

This remains a developing situation, and additional information is expected to be released as authorities continue their investigation.
