SASOLBURG, Desmond Ramaru, the driving force behind the “Help Mokoena” campaign, has provided an update regarding Mohammed Mokoena, who has been battling a rare medical condition affecting his kidneys and feet.
Ramaru said there has been no confirmation that Mohammed Mokoena has passed away. Instead, he shared that after weeks of tireless efforts and generous public support, Mohammed underwent a successful surgery last night.
Desmond, who had promised Mokoena’s late mother that he would help her son, expressed relief and happiness following the procedure.
“I feel relieved and so happy that I kept the promise,” he said.
The campaign, supported through donations and encouragement from Facebook followers and community members, has been described as a testament to the power of kindness and collective action.
Ramaru said the focus will now shift toward Mohammed’s recovery and continued support in the future.
“From now, we must just focus on the recovery of the boy,” he told Vaal Journal. “Then we’ll start planning on how to help him going forward in life.”
