DALLAS TEXAS, Late Tuesday evening in Dallas, an armed suspect fired more than 36 rounds into an occupied sport-utility vehicle, resulting in the death of a 24-year-old woman and serious injuries to her passenger before leaving the area, according to the Dallas Police Department.

The shooting was reported at approximately 7:45 p.m. in the Central Oak Cliff neighborhood near the Wynnewood Village shopping center, located in the 2200 block of South Zang Boulevard.

Authorities stated that the victims were traveling in a Cadillac SUV when an unidentified individual in another vehicle began shooting at them.

The SUV suffered significant gunfire damage and later collided with a third vehicle following the incident.

Police identified the woman who lost her life as Kayli Lopez, 24. She was transported to a nearby hospital after the shooting, where she was pronounced deceased shortly after arrival.

A 21-year-old male passenger was also taken to the hospital with injuries sustained during the incident.

Officials have not released his name or shared details regarding his relationship to Lopez.
