JASON CHEVYBOYJAY, — Online discussion and public speculation have increased following the death of Tyrone Davis Jr., also known as Step Daddy Dro, as family members continue to seek clarity about the circumstances surrounding his passing.
Jason Chevyboyjay addressed the allegations circulating on social media, stating that he is frustrated by what he described as false accusations. In a public statement, he said that instead of allowing investigators to complete their work, people chose to speculate online. He added that Tyrone would not have wanted personal details about his death shared publicly. Jason stated that he personally contacted the city of Gainesville to ask about traffic camera footage, spoke with police officers after returning to find Tyrone on a stretcher, and went to the hospital in hopes of having Tyrone transferred after he was declared brain dead. He said he has been trying to get answers and help in any way possible since Tyrone was hospitalized.
Family members of Tyrone Davis Jr., who died in December, have said the information they have received regarding his death has been inconsistent. While Gainesville Police Department officers have stated that the death is not considered suspicious, some family members have expressed doubts about the official explanation.
According to police, officers responded on December 27 to reports of an injured person near Southwest Archer Road by the I-75 overpass. Detectives said their initial investigation indicated that Davis jumped out of a moving vehicle while in traffic, resulting in severe head injuries. He later died after spending several days in the hospital.
Family members, however, say they do not believe Davis would have jumped from a moving car and have questioned why his girlfriend, who was reportedly driving at the time, would have left him at the scene.
