Armed Man Shot by U.S. Secret Service After Entering Mar-a-Lago Perimeter

PALM BEACH, FLA., The U.S. Secret Service confirmed Sunday that an armed man was shot and killed after entering the secure perimeter of Mar-a-Lago, President Donald Trump’s resort property.

According to the Secret Service, the incident occurred around 1:30 a.m. Sunday near the north gate of the property. Agents reported observing a man carrying what appeared to be a shotgun and a fuel can. Officials stated that the individual drove through the north gate as another vehicle was exiting and was confronted by law enforcement.

Secret Service agents, along with a Palm Beach County sheriff’s deputy, discharged their weapons during the encounter. The man was pronounced deceased. His name has not yet been publicly released.

Authorities said the individual, described as being in his early 20s and from North Carolina, had been reported missing by family members days earlier. Investigators believe he traveled from North Carolina to Florida. A firearm box was reportedly recovered from his vehicle.

President Trump and First Lady Melania Trump were in Washington, D.C., at the time of the incident.

Officials stated that the motive remains under investigation as authorities work to determine the circumstances leading up to the breach.

The Secret Service emphasized that security protocols were followed in response to the situation. The White House did not immediately comment.
