Workers positioned behind a police cordon reported hearing what sounded like gunfire as police swarmed the scene. The situation prompted a significant emergency response, with officers blocking access to parts of Ulster Street and Abbotsford Street.
A police spokesperson confirmed that cordons are in place along both streets and urged members of the public to avoid the area.
“Members of the public are advised to stay away and expect delays,” the spokesperson said.
At this stage, police have not released details about the nature of the incident, nor have they confirmed whether anyone has been injured. The operation remains ongoing.
Motorists and pedestrians are being asked to follow police instructions while the situation is assessed. Further information is expected as police provide updates.
