WAVERLY, Tenn. — Authorities are investigating a tragic incident in Humphreys County after four people were found dead inside a home on East Little Richland Road on Friday morning.

According to the Humphreys County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were conducting a welfare check at the residence when they made the discovery. The bodies of two adults and two children were found inside the home. Sheriff Chris Davis confirmed there is no threat to the public and said the incident appears to be isolated.

Investigators identified the woman found inside the residence as Heather Thompson. Authorities stated that Thompson was found deceased from what was determined to be a self-inflicted injury. A firearm was recovered at the scene.

Officials also confirmed that Thompson’s two sons, Arius “Ari” Thompson, 5, and Isaiah Thompson, 13, as well as her 83-year-old mother, were found deceased inside the home. The children are shared with Thompson’s estranged husband, Biah Thompson, who resides in New Mexico.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is assisting the Humphreys County Sheriff’s Office with the death investigation. Authorities said the scene remains active, and investigators will remain on site for an undetermined period as they work to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident.

No additional details have been released at this time. Sheriff Davis reiterated that there is no ongoing danger to the community and asked residents to avoid the area due to increased law enforcement activity.

The incident has deeply affected the Waverly community, with many residents expressing grief over the loss of multiple generations of one family. Officials said further information will be shared as it becomes available and the investigation continues.
