Suspect in Custody After Kidnapping Call Leads to Officer-Involved Shooting at Mission IBC Bank

MISSION TEXAS, — Authorities are investigating an officer-involved shooting that occurred Wednesday afternoon at an IBC Bank located along Shary Road in Mission, according to police.
Mission Police Chief Cesar Torres said officers were dispatched around 2:04 p.m. to the 100 block of South Shary Road after receiving a report of a kidnapping in progress at the bank.
When officers arrived at the scene, they encountered two suspects inside a white vehicle, Torres said.
During the encounter, one of the suspects opened fire on responding officers, striking several police vehicles.
Officers returned fire, striking one of the suspects.
The injured suspect, whose identity has not been released, was transported to a local hospital. His condition has not been disclosed.
Police confirmed that one officer sustained non-life-threatening injuries during the incident.
The Mission Police Department is continuing to investigate the reported kidnapping, while the Texas Rangers have taken over the investigation into the officer-involved shooting, following standard protocol.
The incident remains under investigation, and authorities said additional information will be released as it becomes available.
