Shelter in Place Issued at Rialto High School Amid Police Investigation

RIALTO CALIFORNIA, Rialto High School in Rialto was placed on lockdown Friday after a reported possible active shooter threat prompted a large law enforcement response. Heavily armed police officers were seen on and around the campus as authorities worked to assess and secure the situation.
According to information shared by school staff, the lockdown was implemented as a precautionary measure. A teacher communicated to parents and colleagues that a threat had been reported outside the campus, stating that students and staff were sheltering in place “out of an abundance of caution.”
During the lockdown, students were instructed to remain inside their classrooms with doors secured while law enforcement conducted a search and investigation. Parents were advised not to come to the school campus while the situation remained active, as doing so could interfere with emergency response efforts.
Officials have not confirmed whether a weapon was located or if any injuries were reported. As of the most recent updates, authorities indicated the response was precautionary while police continued to evaluate the credibility of the threat and ensure the safety of students and staff.
The Rialto Unified School District and local law enforcement agencies are expected to release additional information once the investigation advances and the campus is determined to be safe. Families have been encouraged to rely on official school and police communications for accurate updates.
The situation remains active and developing.
