Sean Allen Identified as Father Killed in Early-Morning Chico Shooting

Authorities have identified the victim in a fatal early-morning shooting in downtown Chico as Sean Allen, a father from Oroville, according to police.
Chico Police officers responded to reports of multiple gunshots at approximately 1:50 a.m. Thursday in the 300 block of Broadway. The calls prompted a large law enforcement and emergency medical response to the area. When officers arrived, they learned that the victim was no longer at the scene.
Police later confirmed that one adult male victim had been transported to a nearby hospital prior to officers making contact. Family members subsequently identified the victim as Sean Allen. Loved ones described Allen as a devoted and beloved father of one. Despite medical efforts, he later died from his injuries.
Detectives with the Chico Police Department are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting. Authorities said preliminary information suggests the incident was isolated and emphasized that there is no ongoing threat to the public.
