North Ridgeville, Ohio Death Under Investigation After Man Passes Away
North Ridgeville police confirmed that a 26-year-old man was found deceased Tuesday following a response to a report of a possible suicidal individual at a residence in the city, according to a statement from the North Ridgeville Police Department.
Officers were dispatched at approximately 11:00 a.m. after receiving a call regarding a male who was believed to be experiencing a mental health crisis and was possibly armed. When police arrived at the location, they observed the individual seated and unresponsive inside a vehicle parked in a driveway.
Due to concerns that a firearm may have been involved, the Eastern Lorain County Emergency Response Team (ELCERT) was requested to assist. As a precaution, authorities secured the area near Stoney Ridge Road and Atlantic Avenue while emergency personnel evaluated the situation.
Police later confirmed that ELCERT located the 26-year-old man deceased inside the vehicle. Officials stated that the death appeared to be the result of a self-inflicted injury. No law enforcement officers or members of the public were harmed during the response.
During the investigation, multiple police vehicles were present in the area with emergency lights activated as light rain fell. Officers established a security perimeter, including a presence along Stoney Ridge Road, while the scene was examined.
In a statement, the police department said the matter remains under investigation. The identity of the deceased has not been released as authorities continue efforts to notify the family.
