Nampa Man Arrested After Deadly Road Rage Shooting in Meridian

MERIDIAN IDAHO, a 27-year-old man was fatally shot Sunday afternoon in Meridian, and a Nampa man has been arrested in connection with what police believe may have been a road rage-related confrontation.
Meridian Police said Jacob L. Streat, 23, of Nampa, was taken into custody and charged with second-degree murder following the shooting.
The incident happened at approximately 12:30 p.m. in the parking lot of a McDonald’s located at 195 E. Central Drive, just north of the Interstate 84 and Meridian Road interchange. Investigators said the confrontation likely began as a traffic dispute or road rage incident on Interstate 84.
According to police, Streat and the victim encountered each other in the parking lot, where Streat allegedly fired a handgun more than a dozen times. Multiple rounds struck the victim, who authorities confirmed was unarmed.
Police said the vehicles involved were a silver 2023 Toyota Tacoma and a blue 2009 Honda Accord. Investigators believe both vehicles had been traveling eastbound on I-84 between Nampa and Meridian prior to the shooting.
Authorities are reviewing multiple pieces of video evidence and continuing to interview eyewitnesses as they work to determine the events that led up to the fatal confrontation.
Streat was arraigned Monday afternoon and is being held on a $2 million bond. A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for February 9.
Meridian police are asking anyone who was in the area around the time of the shooting or who may have information related to the incident to contact the department at 208-888-6678.
Meridian Patrol Lt. Brandon Frasier said earlier that there are witnesses to the shooting and significant video evidence to review, adding that more information will be released as the investigation continues.
