MILWAUKEE WISCONSIN, — A woman was found dead Wednesday evening near the Summerfest grounds, prompting a large police and emergency medical response, authorities said.
Milwaukee police and emergency medical services were dispatched after reports of a person found unresponsive near the Lake Michigan shoreline adjacent to the Summerfest area.
Scanner traffic earlier in the evening indicated the incident may be connected to the Hoan Bridge, which spans the Milwaukee Harbor and connects Interstate 794. Officials have not formally confirmed the circumstances but said preliminary information suggests the death may be related to a fall from the bridge.
The woman’s identity has not been released as authorities work to notify next of kin.
Police secured the area around the Summerfest grounds while investigators conducted an on-scene investigation. Officials said no foul play is suspected and there is no threat to the public.
