MERIDIAN IDAHO, authorities are investigating a fatal shooting reported near a McDonald’s along Meridian Road close to Highway 84, which led to a significant police and emergency response.
Law enforcement officials said they received multiple 911 calls reporting gunfire in the area. Police later confirmed that the individual responsible for the shooting also contacted authorities after the incident. Upon arrival, officers located one person who was pronounced dead at the scene.
Initial findings suggest the shooting occurred after an altercation between individuals nearby. During the confrontation, one person reportedly produced a firearm and fired shots. Investigators stated that the person who discharged the weapon stayed at the location and was taken into custody by responding officers without further issues.
The McDonald’s parking lot and surrounding sections were secured with police tape as officers worked to control the scene and begin their investigation. Emergency medical personnel responded as well, but the victim was declared deceased at the location.
Authorities stressed that the situation is contained and that there is no ongoing danger to the public. Traffic in the immediate vicinity was temporarily disrupted while officers collected evidence and spoke with witnesses.
The names of those involved have not been released. Officials said the events leading up to the altercation are still being reviewed, and additional information is expected as the investigation continues.
