Man Convicted in 2019 Sexual Assault Case Involving Minors

COLDWATER, MICHIGAN — A man has been convicted on multiple charges connected to the sexual assault of two minors in Union City in 2019, according to the Branch County Prosecutor’s Office.

Prosecutors said Anthony Cuyler was convicted Thursday of delivery of methamphetamine to a minor and three counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct involving victims under the age of 13.

Court records indicate Cuyler was accused of sexually assaulting two girls in Union City in July 2019. Authorities said one of the victims was also provided methamphetamine during the incident. Charges were filed the same year, but investigators were unable to locate Cuyler at that time.

Officials later determined that Cuyler had left the country. He was found in Mexico and extradited back to Michigan in March 2024. He was arraigned on the charges in June of that year.

Under Michigan law, the delivery of methamphetamine to a minor carries a potential sentence of up to 40 years in prison. The first-degree criminal sexual conduct convictions are punishable by up to life in prison.

Sentencing information has not yet been released.
