Kyle Olivier, HTS Drostdy Learner, and Father Killed in Western Cape Motorcycle Crash

WESTERN CAPE — Kyle Olivier, a Grade 11 learner at HTS Drostdy, has died alongside his father in a motorcycle accident, a tragedy that has left his school, family, and community in deep mourning. The accident occurred late on Monday night. Details surrounding the crash have not been fully released, and the family has respectfully asked for privacy as they grieve the loss of both a son and a husband.
Kyle was a well-known and much-loved member of the HTS Drostdy community. A talented and committed rugby player, he was set to represent the school’s Under-16A team in 2025 and had also been selected for the Boland Grant Khomo squad, reflecting his dedication, discipline, and promise in the sport. Coaches and teammates described him as determined, energetic, and proud to wear his team’s colours.
Away from the rugby field, Kyle was remembered as friendly, approachable, and full of humour. Teachers said he brought a positive presence into the classroom, while friends spoke of his loyalty and easygoing nature. He was a resident of House Dr Stals, where staff described him as helpful, enthusiastic, and deeply involved in interhostel activities. His willingness to participate and support others made him a valued part of hostel life.
