Ken and Melanie Meyers Die in Huntington Domestic Murder-Suicide

HUNTINGTON, Ind. — Authorities have identified a married couple who were found dead Tuesday night in what is being investigated as an apparent homicide-suicide.
Indiana State Police and the Huntington County Coroner’s Office responded just before 10 p.m. to a property on West Maple Grove Road in Dallas Township after relatives reported they had not seen the couple for some time. According to a press release from the coroner, the couple’s vehicle was located on the property, prompting concern.
Deputies with the Huntington County Sheriff’s Department arrived at the scene and discovered a man and a woman deceased on a lower-level floor of the property, which officials said was not the couple’s primary residence. Investigators noted evidence indicated the two had been at the location for an extended period of time and both had suffered gunshot wounds.
The victims were identified as 51-year-old Melanie R. Meyers and 54-year-old Kenneth L. Meyers, both residents of Huntington. The Huntington County Coroner’s Office ruled Melanie Meyers’ death a homicide and Kenneth Meyers’ death a suicide.
Autopsies were conducted Wednesday morning at a forensic center in Fort Wayne. Authorities said the investigation remains ongoing as officials continue working to determine the circumstances that led to the deaths.
The Huntington County Coroner’s Office and local law enforcement are asking anyone with information related to the case to contact authorities.
