Edmond Woman Spring Weems Found Murdered, Adopted Son Charged After Body Discovered

EDMOND OKLAHOMA, Authorities have identified Spring Weems as the woman found murdered Wednesday afternoon inside a trash can outside her home in far north Edmond, a case that has shocked the community and prompted an ongoing homicide investigation.
According to the Logan County Sheriff’s Office and the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation, deputies were dispatched to a residence near Bryant and Simmons Road along Treviso Trail after a 911 call reported two teenagers fighting. Investigators later confirmed the disturbance was reported by family members who were present at the home.
Upon arrival, deputies quickly learned the fight was connected to a much more serious incident.
“As soon as we arrived, there was a statement made that the body was going to be in a trash can outside of the home,” said Logan County Undersheriff Troy Dykes.
Deputies then located a deceased woman inside a trash can along the street.
“Yes, we’ve located a body, it is located in a trash can, and confirmed it is a fatality,” Dykes said.
OSBI later identified the victim as Spring Weems, the adoptive mother of the two teenagers living in the home. Investigators stated that Weems was the sole caretaker of the juveniles, and the only residents at the home were Weems and the two teens.
Both juveniles were initially detained and questioned for several hours. One was later released, while the other—whose name has not been released due to age—was arrested on a complaint of first-degree murder.
The teen was booked into a Canadian County juvenile detention center, as it is the nearest facility equipped to house juvenile suspects, according to OSBI.
