Aurora Shooting Leaves Armed Suspect Injured Near Broadway and North Avenue

AURORA, ILLINOIS, — An officer-involved shooting is under investigation in Aurora after a suspect was injured during a confrontation with police, authorities said.
The Aurora Police Department said officers responded to a criminal incident in the 300 block of South Broadway near the intersection of Broadway and North Avenue. Due to the heavy police presence, officials asked the public to avoid the area while the scene was secured.
According to preliminary information released by police, the situation escalated when the suspect attempted to stab an officer. During the encounter, an officer discharged their firearm, striking the suspect in the leg.
Aurora Fire Department personnel responded to assist, and the suspect was transported to a local hospital for treatment. Police said the suspect’s injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
Authorities confirmed that no officers were injured during the incident and emphasized that there is no ongoing threat to the public.
Streets in the immediate area were temporarily affected as investigators worked at the scene, and residents were advised to use alternate routes.
