Video Shows Ferrari Accident on Angeles Crest Highway in Southern California
Authorities confirmed that a single-vehicle crash on Angeles Crest Highway in Southern California resulted in the death of Vince Zampella, a well-known video game developer recognized for his role in helping create the Call of Duty franchise.
The incident took place at approximately 12:45 p.m. on Sunday along Angeles Crest Highway in the San Gabriel Mountains, north of Los Angeles. The roadway is widely known for its steep elevations, tunnels, and sharp curves that require cautious driving.
According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), Zampella, 55, was traveling southbound when his 2026 Ferrari 296 GTS exited a tunnel, left the roadway, and collided with a concrete barrier.
CHP officials stated that Zampella was trapped inside the vehicle following the impact and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
A passenger who was also in the Ferrari was ejected during the crash and later passed away after being transported to a nearby hospital, authorities said.
Video footage circulating online appears to show moments before the crash and highlights the challenging driving conditions along the winding mountain highway where the incident occurred.
Investigators have not yet released details regarding the cause of the crash, including whether speed, mechanical issues, or road conditions may have contributed.
