Authorities said two people were killed in a crash that occurred Tuesday morning in Watertown as they were returning from a funeral.
The multi-vehicle crash happened on Bigelow Avenue, according to local officials.
Family members of the victims told authorities that those involved were traveling back from a cemetery after attending the funeral of another relative held at the Armenian Memorial Church.
After leaving the cemetery, the victims were returning to the church for a mercy meal with family members and friends when the crash occurred.
The area remained closed for several hours as Watertown police and Massachusetts State Police troopers assigned to the collision analysis unit worked at the scene to determine exactly how the crash happened.
Officials have not released additional details regarding the circumstances leading up to the collision, and the investigation remains ongoing.
