Homicide Suspect Dies After Confrontation with Sequatchie County Deputies

Authorities in Tennessee are sharing details about an incident on Signal Mountain in which a homicide suspect died during an encounter with Sequatchie County deputies on Monday evening. The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) stated that the situation began as deputies were looking into a homicide reported off Dandy Road around 8:45 p.m.

During the investigation, officials identified Johnny Michael Queen as a suspect. Deputies attempted to make contact with him by phone, but he declined to surrender. Additional support from the Tennessee Highway Patrol and the 12th Judicial Drug Task Force joined the search as efforts to locate him continued.

Authorities eventually found Queen off Big Fork Road on Signal Mountain. According to the TBI, he pointed a firearm at deputies during the encounter. Officers responded, and Queen was fatally injured.

He was pronounced deceased at the scene, and no officers were harmed during the incident. The TBI is now conducting a comprehensive investigation to determine the circumstances that led to the shooting and to document the sequence of events.
