Fort Myers authorities are reviewing an incident that occurred late Friday morning after deputies conducted a traffic stop involving a woman who was wanted on an outstanding warrant. The situation unfolded near the entrance of a dealership on Boy Scout Drive around 11 a.m.
According to officials, the woman attempted to leave the scene during the stop, prompting a rapid response from deputies. During the encounter, one deputy discharged a round, and the woman later arrived at Lee Memorial Hospital for medical evaluation. Her injury was described as non-life-threatening. No deputies or other individuals were reported injured.
Hospital staff notified Fort Myers Police after learning of her warrant status, and she was taken into custody following her treatment. Authorities noted that she has an extensive prior record based on previous arrests.
The area around the dealership was secured while investigators worked to document the scene. Officials expect the location to be cleared within a few hours.
