Authorities Provide New Details on Ongoing Investigation at Local Parking Lot

Norfolk authorities are sharing new details about an ongoing investigation following an incident that took place Tuesday evening in the parking lot of a Tinee Giant convenience store.
Police responded around 8 p.m. to the location on West Ocean View Avenue after receiving reports of a disturbance. Upon arrival, officers found a 27-year-old man in need of immediate medical assistance. A short time later, another man was located on East Ocean View Avenue with injuries that were determined to be connected to the same incident. Both individuals were transported to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital for further care.
Early findings from investigators indicate that the two men had been involved in a verbal dispute in the parking lot before the situation escalated. Officials stated that one of the individuals, 29-year-old Trevonte G. Dague, has been charged in connection with the case. Dague remains hospitalized and will be transferred to the Norfolk City Jail once medically cleared.
Norfolk Commonwealth’s Attorney Ramin Fatehi was present at the scene and encouraged the public to remain patient and mindful during the holiday season, underscoring the emotional strain many people experience this time of year.
A local resident reported hearing two loud sounds before seeing police arrive in significant numbers. Officers remained on-site for several hours, gathering evidence and interviewing witnesses to piece together what occurred.
The Norfolk Police Department has emphasized that this remains an active investigation, and additional information will be shared as it becomes available.
